Daydreaming by Donna MacDonald

Original Oil Painting

I've been trying to incorporate what I learned at the Kim English workshop I attended. One of the things that he stressed was keeping your colours and palette clean. He suggested keeping the light and dark mixing areas separate. He lays his palette out from dark to light and mixes his darks directly under the blues, greens, reds and mixes the lights under the yellows and white. You are less likely to contaminate your colours this way.
Here is a snapshot of his mixing area from one of his plein aire demos.

Your work post-workshop is quite a bit looser than pre-workshop, which is lovely to see. The workshop was certainly worthwhile for you!!
